Glenda & Nikke at the Rally to Restore Sanity - 10.30.10

I was at the Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear and can attest to the refreshing civil feeling in the air … hope it continues to permeate and infect others! What an awesome day! I was with friends who drove from Florida to take part in the rally. On the Metro we talked to people from Minnesota to Maine. I overheard others say they were from Alaska. Amazing!

The crowds were intense – from the packed-like-sardines trip down on the Metro to the standstill as we tried to leave the Mall! But, it was worth it–every minute, every emotion, every smiling face–I’d do it all again tomorrow if I could! What a great feeling of unity and community!

A friend of mine heard a policeman say that the National Park Service was prepared for a crowd of 200,000; however, the cop said the crowd well-exceeded that … he thought there were more like 400-500,000 people gathered on the Mall. Hmmmm. Very interesting. So far, people estimating attendance figures suggest the crowd-size at about 215,000 (CBS). No matter what the final count … I’m just glad I was there! It’s one thing to watch historical events take place on TV or via the Web, but you take it to a whole new level when you participate in it! I’m so glad I took the time to go in person and experience it in real-time!
